How to make a Grilled Cheese Sandwich, the Sonic way

How to Make a Grilled Cheese at Home, The Sonic Way

As many individuals have acknowledged, Sonic Drive-In has a grilled cheese sandwich listed in the value menu or also known as the everyday deal. Several people get the grilled cheese by itself or sometimes they receive it as a kids meal with a side of small fries and a small drink. The grilled cheese would cost you around almost 2 dollars and it may not be much but as a fellow Sonic employee, for 1 year and 7 months, I believe we can create our own grilled cheese at home, tasting the same as the Sonic Drive-In.

Why do we need to learn how to make a grilled cheese that taste like the ones from Sonic?

We all know that grilled cheese sandwiches are delicious and we would go to any place to get one, and in this case, we have Sonic who has grilled cheese sandwiches. If you’re craving a grilled cheese sandwich and you think automatically about Sonic, you’re going to want to drive to Sonic right? You need to keep in mind that you are going to waste gas going to Sonic, just for a grilled cheese sandwich and going back home. You also need to keep in mind that there may be lines to order. Now that I got you thinking  about the cons, let me tell you as a fellow Sonic employee, I can teach you how to make a grilled cheese sandwich just like the ones at Sonic without you going through that hassle with  few steps, utensils, and ingredients.

What you need:

Steps
1) First you need to turn the stove on, medium. You need to make sure that the stove isn't too high or too low because we don't want to overdue or under cook the cheese or the bread.

2) Next, you get your pan and let it heat up for 2-3 minutes. You can let it heat up for a little longer but keep in mind that if it is too hot, the bread will get burned and the cheese might melt too fast and would not stick to the bread enough. If you are planning to heat the pan up for longer, I suggest to put the stove low.

3) After the pan has been heated up, you place your 2 slices of bread on the pan and let it sit 2-3 minutes or as long as you like your toast to be, soft or crunchy. Make sure you are checking the side the toast is being toasted on to make sure that's the way you desire the way the toast looks and the way it is textured as.

4) Once the toast has been on the pan for 2-3 minutes, you would flip the slices of toast with your spatula. As you are flipping the toast, make sure you are carefully going under the toast softly and not too rough because the toast might tear and the cheese will go through the hole.

5) Furthermore, place the 2 slices of american cheese next to the toast and let it sit for a minute. Make sure you are keeping an eye out for the cheese as well as the toast. Don't let the cheese melt all the way and the toast get over cooked because that combination won't taste too good.

6) Finally, once you see that the toast is the way you want it, go ahead and place it on the cheese with the spatula and let it sit for a couple of seconds. You will scoop both slices of toast with cheese on a plate when you take it out of the pan and will place the 2 slices of toast together. There you have it, a Sonic grilled cheese sandwich made at home.
7) (Optional) cut the grilled cheese in half with your knife, so that you can have 2 triangular slices.

Many think that making a grilled cheese is very hard or are just not wanting to do it on their own but now that we have a pandemic, it is preferable to make food at home and not go out as much to contain the virus more and stop spreading the virus as well. It is also convenient for us to be cooking at home rather than going out because we don't waste money on gas and we also don't waste the food or products we have at home. So next time you have a craving of a grilled cheese, consider making one at home rather than going out and wasting your money on gas and risking your health and life during this pandemic.
